Hi,

I hope someone has an answer to help me out.

I am trying to install Zoombrowser v3.1 and I am coming up with a windows error

16 Bit subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

The disk I am using is the "Digital Camera Solution Disk - v7.1"

It ran fine on Win98. The book also says that the disk is compatible to WinXP.

Problem is I cannot download the new version of Zoombrowser from the Canon site as I must have a current version running on my machine.

Nightmare!! If anyone can suggest help or a workaround it would be much appreciated.

Regards

Although I'm not running it now, I've used that version of Zoombrowser on my pc with Windows XP Pro, so it should work. Try uninstalling it first if any of it is installed. Then temporarily turn off any virus detection software you have running, and try reinstalling it again. (Turn antivirus back on when done.)

If you've been having any other problems on your pc, you may want to first download and run two popular free Adware and Spyware detection programs to rule out those types of things: SpyBot S&D, and Ad-Aware. Both can be found easily doing a search on the internet. I run them both at least weekly.

If none of the above works try checking out Canon's technical support online, or as a last resort buy an inexpensive compact flash card reader that plugs into your USB port and you can upload photos directly from your flash card to any folder on your pc. Then use any photo editing software to manipulate the photos. Good luck!

You might try copying the whole CD to a directory on your hard drive, then changing the compatibility mode for the program that's failing. You'll find the starting program's name in the file "autorun.inf". Locate that program in Explorer, right-click it, choose "Properties", then the "Compatibility" tab, and select Windows 98. Then try running from there.

:) Ijust bought a new computer and installed zoombrowser from the disk that came with my G3. I found it alot easier to install with XP than I did when I installed it on Windows 98. I just followed the directions. Don't forget to use WIA and not twain 32 in XP.

I just bought a used G2... tried installing the WIA driver on XP Pro, got the same message as listed above. Can anyone offer any other suggestions?

BTW, I did not get the software CD with my G2, so I'm trying to work with downloads from the Canon website.

Thanks,

JD
