Hi all,
I'm an editor at a young but reputable Australian publication focused on high end street fashion, events and lifestyle. We cover all the major fashion weeks, major music events as well as smaller happenings in Melbourne and Victoria.
We are offering experience, the chance to network with the right people, free entry only to the events you want to cover, exposure and all the perks that come with the job. You can even suggest things you would personally like to cover and we will organise your access. It's a very easy, fun gig.
Message me if you are interested in joining the team! Or if you have further questions.

Are these paid jobs or unpaid?

Hi Tangcla,
I just wrote this PM to someone else which has more info for you;
"Dates vary - we need events every week for our email newsletter and online publication. You choose when and where you want to go to them.
The types of events are fashion and lifestyle based, it's targeted at a stylish 20-something audience so any events that might attract such a crowd. As I mentioned in the original post we go to all the major fashion weeks in Melbourne, fashion parades, social parties, shop and venue launches and openings, charity events, music festivals etc.
We are asking for volunteers thus the part about 'offering experience, the chance to network with the right people, free entry only to the events you want to cover, exposure and all the perks that come with the job. You can even suggest things you would personally like to cover and we will organise your access'. Interested in people wanting to collaborate with us until we can build up into a rewards system (even though it's got some great advantages already) and then eventually payment system."

Can you offer more specific information regarding the publication?

Sounds like an InTheMix equivalent for fashion :)
Thanks anyway, I'm currently getting paid jobs as a fashion/events photographer, if you're looking at hiring let me know.

Something like that but with a lot more content, especially images :)
And while the focus is on fashion we also cover music festivals, community festivals, charity functions, social parties and the like.

It might help if you could actualy tell people the name of this "publication" - they can then make a fully informed decision as to whether it's something they want to give their time to.
Sadly, theres an awful lot of places now that want something but give little in return. The strength of you trading name might however be enough to inspire response from someone who could make use of the "networking" oportunity.

I tell people when they make a private enquiry if they are suitable as to what it is as I like to discuss things with them more fully. It's quite common for people searching for applicants to keep quiet about what the company is until later stages.
As I wrote "We are offering experience, the chance to network with the right people, free entry only to the events you want to cover, exposure and all the perks that come with the job. As our contributors choose their own assignments there's not much of a chance for exploitation.
I have been in the volunteering situation myself in earlier years (as a writer which is somewhat harder to break into i would suggest than even photography) so I know what it's like - in the media industry it's pretty standard to simply grab whatever you can get for the first year or two to make a name for yourself. We are only "young" also especially in Melbourne.
I've been getting a decent response in my inbox so thanks :)
