View Full Version : The cap is dead, long live the cap...

My infamous BRSCC baseball cap as modeled <<=== in my avatar has come to the end of the road. It is now far too disgusting to even contemplate wearing. As a result, a shiny new one will be gracing my bonce for the new motorsport season.
I'll see if I can get a new avatar shot done at the next event. In the meantime, here they are for comparison sake.

Only the thread around the vent holes show any semblance of the original color. Sun fading? Multiple washings? What?

I am afraid so... what you see on the left are the effects of 7 seasons of motorsport in the wind, rain, snow and even occasionally sunshine (not much sunshine though). if it did that to the cap... can you imagine the state I'm in? :(

'tis just some minor discolouration! At least you're able to retire yours, I come home and my girlfriend has either thrown my old hats out or made rags out of the cloth.
I can foresee a thread in the Classified section titled "FA: Cadwell's "Experienced" BRSCC Cap"

Actually, you really don't want to know that; trust me. It has also developed this odd, slimy texture which means that it always feels damp even when it isn't...

Glenn, I hope there's a hazardous waste material disposal site near your place where you can dump that old cap of yours. Or better yet, maybe it should be taken to the place where they bury spent nuclear fuel rods, just to ensure that nothing unearthly starts to grow on your cap. :|

Cheers to the new cap!

Wow, it really faded!
Seriously, when one of my caps gets kinda gross I toss it in the dishwasher along with a light load of plates and glasses. Something about the degreaser in the detergent cuts grease and stains that won't come out in the regular wash. It won't look new but it will be less disgusting and you owe it to an old friend to try to save it.

That... that hat was BLACK? Wow...
The dishwasher works but it fades caps so you gotta watch out for that if you don't want a lot of fade.

OUCH! The operative word is WASH! I don't know about you but my wife belongs to school that says you don't put a dish (cup, glass, flatware, etc.) in the dishwasher unless it's already almost clean enough to eat off of.

We can barely hear it running, it gets everything off of everything. We never rinse anything, just scrape the big stuff off.

We've had a "show us your fridge" thread, we've had a bathroom thread, maybe it's time for a "Show us your dishwasher" thread :).

You need to explain the meaning of dishwasher to her....or get a better one.

I have a pic of our esteemed moderator of 2004 vintage, sporting the aforementioned bonce-protector.
It's hue is definitely green but certainly not as dark as Cap V2.0 - shall I post it?

Funny Glenn and Dave.
Now have a new target acquired in my viewfinder.
Didn't remember Brands Hatch being so green! And even a touch of blue sky! :D
See you guys later this season!
Just a couple of weeks in Thailand/NZ, and I'm back next week to miserable cold UK - I'm completely mad
