Too late; moments after availability of the black version became known, the price of second-hand silver ones dropped to 49p. :D :P

Why is the choice always limited to silver or black?
Didn't Leica or someone fancy make an olive drab/khaki SLR in the '80s ?
What about an off-white body to match all our Lenses?

Leica did, and Canon (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1/html/odf1.htm)had an OD F-1

You can order Leicas with your choice of about 9 different types of leather (including Ostrich) and various colours... I think they'll even engrave them.
Funny... it doesn't seem to make the photos any better.

Is there anything different (i.e., new features) about the new black rebel other than the color??

Actually, it makes it a rare collectable, manufactured for a limited time and destined to go up in value.
Buy one now. You may be able to sell it in 20 years, and retire off the proceeds.
In fact, if you'd like to make me an offer for my silver Digital Rebel, feel free. I'd probably be willing to let it go for less than a 50% premium over the cost of a new, ordinary black one.

The rather bizarre WHITE Minolta 8000i - hmmm... maybe I'm showing my age here!

A black body will improve those nighttime star shots. No longer will the starlight reflected off the silver body mess up the exposures. Say goodbye to the 0.00000000000000000000000000000001 stop exposure compensation.

One thing I noticed is that camera is marketed and labelled as the 300D not the digital rebel which is probably a USA name only.

Black Rebel is now available in Canada too. Henry's has them for the same
price as a 'Silver Back'.
I must confess, I was seriously looking at the D70 for a couple of reasons.
One was cosmetics, one was the better kit lens, etc.
Now I am drawn back to the dRebel at Henry's W/17-85 USM IS EF-S for the
same price as the D70. Hmmm. Looks like the Canon again.

I do prefer teh silver. being black does not make it any better looking. you only think it looks better because the D10 is black and metalic where as the 300D is silver and plastic. Not only does the silver look better but silver 300D's take better pictures

My grey G2 always took very soft pictures. Also, it was very rude, and I myself was rather unwealthy.
I painted the camera black, after which it became very polite and now takes wonderfully sharp photos. And, a week after the colour change, I won £7,000,000 on the lottery! :D
Black is best. Q.E.D. :P
