I obtained a photo pass to shoot our local AHL team the Rockford Icehogs. Went through them looking and processed this one so decided to put it up for some C /C. I will have more tomorrow to late to do them tonight.

All nice shots. You are getting some great shutter speeds with low iso on a few shots - must be a great rink. Is that the Blues affiiated Peoria Rivermen?

Nice images. You sure the first is at 1/250? Looks really sharp, no motion blur.

I like the last close up, a real in your face shot.

Were you shooting through the glass or did they have cut-outs? What is the "best" way to position the camera/lens if you have to shoot through the glass?

thanks

Thank you for the responses,

Yes that is the Peoria Rivermen, and the Rivermen spanked the Hogs last night 5-1

Yes indeed it was shot at 1/250th, they did not have any cut outs so I was shooting thru the glass, I am going back again on Friday . The Icehogs are playing the Chicago Wolves should be a good game.

"Through the glass"

Ahh ok I knew it was simple , I am surprised that I didnt see more of that since the glass is all scratched and all when you shoot off at an steep angle thats when its really noticeable at least from what I have found . I cant wait for tomorrows game.

The closer you can keep the lens hood to the glass the less noticeable it is....even touching is ok as the glare is reduced. You've got to watch if the play comes your way though as a bump on the glass will transfer to your eyecup and head.

Looks like you did a great job. i would try shooting in manual mode at around 1/400th or faster and the lowest iso you can get with those speeds. You caught lots of good action, looking forward to seeing more.
