Here is a shot I took right after thanksgiving. He is eating his feast. It was supposed to be for my dog, but this eagle came down first to eat it.

It is shot on a 1dm3, iso 1250, F8, 1/200th, 700mm (500mm F4.5 + 1.4x) Handheld.
Thanks

Nice shot. I don't know much about bald eagles but is that what they look like then the top just turns white or something or is that a different kind of bald eagle?

Great closeup. Tracey, that's a Juvie Bald Eagle. They don't get the full white head and tail till their fifth summer. They start out all brown, then the more speckled they are, the older they are. I would guess this one is maybe 3 years old. They live to be 25 in the wild and up to 50 in captivity.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We are blessed that we have several Eagles around the house. Advantage of being on the Keani River, as well as the great salmon fishing. This fella is not to skiddish he looked when he heard the shutter clicking, so I went to silent mode and that helped. the Adults are a bit more standoffish and even a silent shutter from a distance gets their attention.

Kevin, is that bird strong enough to break the bone?

Yah he was, he broke it and then swallowed part of the bone later on, but those images were not as good with the lighting. I will go back and look and see if I can post one or to of them here or on my website.
Thanks all.

PS There were 2 out in the tree this afternoon, but shooting up to them with clouds as the backdrop just did not work...
