Thanks to the help I got here I am shoot RAW all the time now and like it a lot, BUT.

I can't seem to figure out how to review my photos on the computer when I down load them from my cards. With jpeg I used to use the viewer that came with my Digital Rebel for the first run through. I could check for focus, content and everything to determin whether to keep a photo or not. I could blow them up to check for detail and decide if it was a potential PS canadate. Since shooting RAW I can't find a way to do this easily so I am still shooting jpeg and RAW.

What do you use to do the review of your shots?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure some of the Canon software like Zoombrowser or DPP will allow you to do that. I'm not 100% certain anymore as I haven't used the Canon software in ages. I used PS Elements for a long time, which allows you to preview raw files before processing, but now I use Lightroom. If you shoot raw, it's fantastic.

Just open up DPP, you will be able to see them then and thats what i use for my basic adjustments. If you just open a folder or try to use Microsoft viewer, you can't see them.

Zoombrowser will also work for viewing raw files. For my workflow, I bring up Zoombrowser first and quickly go thru my raw files to kick out the absolute bad ones -- OOF, missed focus point, stupid angle, etc. It's easier and quicker in ZB to just scroll thru the raw files. It opens up a nice sized viewing box and I can delete the file right in the viewing box if it's going to be a goner. I then do some of my PP in DPP and final PP in CS2.
