I am wanting to get a zoom with roughly the range of the Canon 70-200/f4 - but I want something that isn't so WHITE!! I'm a quiet kind of guy and would feel too self-conscious with that thing stuck on the front of my 10D.
Any suggestions for a good, black lens?

The obvious suggestion is the Sigma APO 70-200mm f2.8 EX HSM. It approaches the Canon's optical quality, is roughly the same price and is black.

Canon 75-300 ? (it's not the same quality, a little worse though).

70-300 DO IS ( a little more money)

Edmond, I agree with Chris M. The new 70-300 DO IS lens is very nice, and doesn't stand out like the lighter colour lenses. That is, if you don't mind spending roughly twice the amount for the lens.

If the cost matters(and it normally does) then I say get the Canon 70-200mm/4.0 L, and live with the fact that you've chosen Canon as your camera system. Face it, sooner or later you're going to want some of that "L" Glass and most of it is White/Gray/cream/or whatever.

Check out the Photographers Gallery at any major sporting event, now tell me which lenses stand out! ha, ha!
