I need practice in photographing black birds, but all I could find today were these Black Vultures................:(

Looks very good Ira. Getting the detail in the black feathers is tough. I am practicing on crows now, but really hard with the bright snow..:confused:

I'm waiting for the sun to actually show itself before I continue on my personal challenge photographing crows. :confused:

Nice series with nice details in the plumage...#3 is a winner.

Nice shots. It always amazes me to see the variety in size of feathers on the vultures.

You're always going to be on a bit of a loser with that white background, and on an absolute scale they're still pretty good. Nevertheless, I feel there's a brittle edge from a bit too much post processing here that doesn't usually show on your pictures. There's also a trace of camera shake in shot 1. You've set yourself a high standard!

You are right about the camera shake..... It was about to rain, and I shot these at only 1/100 sec, much to slow even with the lens resting on the truck window.
