Canon 50mm on B&H

Anybody know why B&H has the same (seemingly) lens listed twice at different prices? Is there a difference I'm missing? I'll be in NY later this month and thought about picking one up.

I buy "Grey" only. For me, non-US resident it's waste of money to buy the "USA" items ...

Yes. I generally buy grey market stuff too though, even though I'm in the US. I basically live in the middle of nowhere in WV and if I need a lens serviced I have to mail it out anyway. By virtue of that, I generally just buy grey if there is a decent difference in price.

At the end of the day it's how much are you going to save compared to the headache you may get if you are having to return the item.

So if there's a difference of less then $50 I'll probably always go with the USA import.

Again, it's down to people's peace of mind.

Has anyone with a grey-market lens/camera looked at the papers which came with it? I'd expect they were warrantied by a Canon office outside the US, maybe even world-wide except here.

Yep.
The Canon representative does not honor the manufacturer warranty where I live, so in any case of problem I have to send the equipment abroad - so it doesn't really matter whether I send it to the B&H or to Canon USA ...
