Right now I have:
1) Drebel + kit lens
2) 70-200 sigma ex 2.8
3) 50mm mk 1
4) 256 mb card
5) Cheap tripod
6) I should soon receive a vosonic x drive
7) Vivitar 285 flash
8) a tripod head: manfrotto #56
I shoot with that.
I am thinking about getting next:
1) 1.4 sigma extender
2) Manfrotto legs
3) 17-40 L
4) or tamron 28-75
5) battery grip
I don't know if I am gonna use the 28-75... it doesn't seem wide enough and at the same time not long enough. What's better if you shoot crowds?

Get the Tamron.. you already have a wide angle for now.. but you are missing that middle Yes, you have the 50, but add everything else in between that you are missing.

Get either the Tamron the 70-200f4 or just sell the DRebel and use the money you're looking to spend to pick up a 20D ;)

Hi Doc
I can see that your setup lacks wide-angle abilities, so I'd say to look into that area. The Canon 17-40 is superb piece of optics, but it may not be wide enough. You can look into the new Tamron SP AF 11-18mm F/4.5-5.6 Di-II (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=43970), or try other wide-angle solutions - Sigma 15-30, Sigma 12-24, the new Canon 10-22 etc.

He has the kit lens,.. so wide is not a priority
He has the 70-200mm f/2.8, so another 70-200mm f/4 is hardly a priority.
So why recomend lenses he has?
Doc,
Seems to me your own list makes the most sense..
I'd be looking for legs to put that head on...
The 1.4X T-Con is handy with your 70-200mm...
..and then maybe that Tamron mid range zoom.
Don't worry about the battery grip.. it is gravy.. not at all a neccesity. (much as some would believe)
Let me know when the X-drive arrives :)

Get the legs - they'll improve the sharpness of everything else. Can't do better than that, can you?
