I am new to Lightroom and am using version 1.3.1 for Mac. Also, I am following Scott Kelby's book on using this program. I noticed that he says during import that Lightroom should put the "Lightroom library database" in the "Pictures" folder by default.

Unfortuaneately, I don't see it in that folder when I import files. When I "copy" or "import from the original location" I see the directory that says it is saving in the "Pictures" file, but I don't see anything in the file labelled Lightroom....only the file that I imported by copying or such.

1.)Is this a big deal?

2.)Do I need to create a database myself in the "Pictures" folder? and is that even possible?

3.) I read the links in the "Lightroom sticky thread" but couldn't find an answer.

Thanks for any assistance that anyone can offer about this.

The database is created when you first open LR and start importing files. This database file stores the edits to your files only and not the actual images. I am not on a MAC but my LR catalog is called "Lightroom Catalog" and it is located in a folder titled "Lightroom" under "My Pictures" in Windows.

Thanks for the reply!

I didn't complete any edits as I was trying to load all my pic files from my harddrive into lightroom. I'll try one to see if it creates a LR catalog (database) by default.
