need some tips on my photos :D

hi, I shot these today... but I am not very good since I am just an amateur

I used 20d, some cheap 50mm lens and 2 alienbee b400 lights, one slightly above the objects and another behind me for filling. I believe I used around 1/200 and f4 at the time of the shoot

Honestly I think that these photos looks... boring, dead. :(

Me blocking the fill light or whatever aside, what other tips can you offer?

Don't be so hard on yourself, they're not too bad. Just a little too much lighting, I'd guess. Or add a little contrast in post processing maybe.

These photos are fine. You have some shadows on the left/front but thats not that huge of a deal. Play with curves a little to add some contrast (touch the highlights up a bit and bring down the shadows.)
