I had never really Tried for one before as Most turned out like a lump of coal. I really saw them posted here by several Members and I wanted to give it a try. It was a bit overcast today so What the Hell!!!

Well done,Gary. This one can in no way be considered a "lump of coal", and I really dought that any of your shots ever looked like that.

Nice shot, I usually only see these guys way up in the trees or flying over head. Interesting that you posted this today, because there was a crow in my back yard this morning. I'd read this article (http://www.birds.cornell.edu/crows/crowinfo.htm) about crows the other day. One of the points is that crows are one of the few birds that can distinguish individual people. So when I saw the crow I started saying "peanut" and put out some peanuts for it on my deck railing. I had to leave for work, but it was watching me so I assume it probably ate some!

Nice detail on the black feathers. I'm usually trying to shoot them against a bright sky and it's just impossible (for me).

It is Impossible for anyone but if you have to just expose for the bird and the Sky will go white!! I was shooting + 1.33 in cloudy weather.

Beautiful experiment, and successful indeed. Love the cute nastiness you captured here as well as the clean background that truly contrasts and accentuates the bird's attributes, Gary. Love this shot. And the catch light accentuates the inherent "life" in this bird that has no colors to draw attention, only character :D

Well done Gary, crows and cormorants have a beautiful texture to them when exposed properly, Great job on this one! Didnt you have a 1.4X before? or was it another brand.

Yes I had another one and got tired of swapping it between lens, so now I have one for each lens the 300/4 and the 500/4. I can also stack them if I want!!

Excellent shot with spot on exposure. Sharp with great details in the black. It can be quite a challenge to get it right when shooting against bright background. :-)
