Low budget does limit your choices.

You can go super cheap and spend 50$ on a dual 500wt light from sears or Home Depot with stand. Then can defuse the light with a sheet. It is ghetto but super cheap.

I have the kit with a Vivitar 285HV flash and umbrella and in all that was 200$. That is cheap for lighting. This fills a room very nicely. Search the forum for light kits and there are threads each day with this topic.

For me I would say continuous lighting is hella hot. Try ebay...amvona. Back in my TV production studio days we made light boxes out of black foam core board and taped diffusion over it....then held the in place with a few clamps to a stand in front of the fresnel light. Supper cheap and worked great.

- Vivitar 285HV is $90.00 new
- Westcott Apollo Softbox $131.00
- Bogen Swivel Adapter - $28.95

You will need an adapter to mount the hot shoe to the umbrella adapter and also a way to trigger the flash, either a sync cord or ebay wireless trigger. All items except the triggers can be purchased new from bhphotovideo.com
