never seen this before..not sure why it was doing it but it looked like the fly was blowing his head up with air then the air would deflate...It kept on doing this for ages,im pretty sure its doing this to try and get out of the pupa.i have more pics need to edit them then il show u as they emerge
edit - i know the pics aint that great but i just wanted to show u this weird thing they do..

strange but those are the first images of a fly emerging from pupation that I can recall viewing. Excellent documentation.

Excellent shots - love the last one. Wonder if it can blow up it's body in sequence to produce a peristaltic wave which would tend to squeeze it out of the case ? - same thing that happens in you guts but the other way round.

just going through my pics soon as i get to the flys il post some more pics..as they emerge..dont u hate it when u have over 200 pics to edit..takes a long time when i sharpen and take the dust mnaks from the pics.

clean your sensor, save a lot of time - I never have more than a couple of spots to clean even at x3 mag

yer i do clean it..but theres alot of dust in my body..only takes couple weeks and i have **** back on it.i use green clean wet and dry swabs
