making slave flash work with my eos

A friend just gave me a Britek slave flash studio light & a wireless trigger system. How do I get it to work with my EOS? From searching on the internet, I think I need a Hot Shoe Adapter, but I wanted to make sure before I purchased. This is my first experience with studio lighting...

Please give us the specific model of your camera body.

And you need to tell us more about the wireless trigger system. Most of them have a transmitter that fits on your camera's hotshoe, in which case no adapter is required.
