as Wedding photographer, i have to go carrying all my gear all around when i am moving or just carry one body and one lens and other stuff for the place or situation i am into.

but where do you keep you camera bag and all the other lenses?? do you keep carrying them??
i am asking this cause i am so afraid for anything to get stolen...
and i thought if i keep carrying my bag all around i will sure end up killing someone LOL.
i don't think of keeping it in the car, as it will be so far to make any changes???
so what do you do with your gear???

I have 2 bags now, one is my airport security and fits most of my gear. I keep it right where I shoot, always in sight, or I lock it up in a room. But mostly, it's with me. Now, that being said, when I'm with a bunch of shooters, we watch out for each other's stuff. Have to trust someone.

I'm pretty sure the Priest won't steal it, maybe you should ask one of the alter boy to keep an eye on it...

I've done a couple of weddings for friends with no money (although they could both afford exotic honeymoons ???) and my assistant (Wife) looked after my bag/etc. This is where an assistant comes in handy.

I'd rather trust the priest I think ;)

My wife, bless her heart, usually comes along to help me and guard gear even those times I have an assistant with me.

I have read more than one horror story about wedding photographers having their gear stolen during the course of a gig.

Jim is right, a good spouse is worth it. :) My hubby does look after my stuff when he's with me, but most of the time, I'm alone shooting. I shoot in some very public places, mainly concert halls and convention centers. I can't trust anyone or leave the gear bag in a room, so it just comes with me on wheels. If you do that, you are not as mobile, but your gear is safe.

If you can afford to drag someone along, do it. With $5000-$10000 worth of gear in the bags, it's wise to have full insurance and have someone watch it for you.
