Hmm I really need more storage and had decided to buy either 2 x 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II or 1 x 2 GB Sandisk Ultra II but am now i doubt if I instead should buy a photo wallet of some kind.

Following are all within the same price as the Sandisk cards:

- Archos Gmini 120 (20 GB)
- Vosonic X'S-Drive Pro VP300 (30 GB)

Other suggestions would be appreciated (Flashtrax is not an option as it currently is way too expensive)

I think more gig for the $$ is an easy decision for me. I would put up with the extra equipment to have to carry to get 28 gig more for the same $$.

I can't answer untill I know what you allready have...
...but I'd tend to think a photo-wallet if you allready have at least two CF cards.

Hehe, I have

2 x 1 GB, one 2 GB microdrive, one 512 MB + two 256 MB. I doubt I will use the 256 MB cards in the camera anymore, I mostly use them to store photos on when ordering prints from my local photo lab.

My value for money sense say a photo wallet, but my convenience sense say more cards.

Definately a "wallet" then.

One copies while you shoot on another card.. you'll never run out untill you fill the wallet.

Get a photo wallet. Card speeds will continue to improve, and if you load up on cards now you will eventually be stuck with a big bunch of obsolete cards and the prospect of having to spend big to replace them.

Go for two or three cards and empty them off as they fill up. Then when the cards get better, buy just one (or two).

The speed of the photo wallet is not critical except for the transfer to the computer, so you decide what to do when faster photo wallets come out.

Have Fun,

I do photography in many out-of-the-way places. Often I will drive my vehicle to some spot and then hike with my digital camera gear for 10-20 miles in a day. As a result, I need enough CF card memory to last me through the hike, and that can be anywhere from one to three GB.

Then, when I return to my vehicle, I dump the CF card contents to my X-drive, then reformat the CF cards and start the whole process over.

So, how much memory you fill up suggests the size and number of CF cards you need, and then the CF cards suggest the size of the portable storage drive you need.

photo wallet for a long run, BUT, make sure you have enough storage on CF cards to keep you shooting until you wrap up the day.

You don't wanna miss a shot just because your card is full, do you?
