Hey,

It's been awhile since I last used an SLR. Although my P&S has been great, I miss the creative control of going manual.

I plan on getting my first DSLR camera by April(Canon 450D).

As I wait, I wanted to brush up on photography 101 and am looking for a great all around book on the subject. You know something that covers the basics of aperture, f stops, iso, lenses etc. And that relates it to digital cameras as well.

Any suggestions?

Although I bought his other book, Understanding Digital Photography (it appears to have much of the same content as Understanding Exposure).

Yes, it's a good book, but it needs an update. I think you will find that my Help file for that book will be enlightening.

you found it boring? it was the first book I read after seeing it here and I could not lay it down, probably because I did not know much of it

yeah i found it painful to read.. i know its technical and its supposed to be that way. im not used to reading things like that.. so i had to force myself to read it, and take notes so i would remember.

granted i think the photoshop books that scott kelby does are awesome because its funny while you read and learn. i like things that make me laugh.it keeps me entertained.. probably why i like POTN so much. :)

Thanks, and be sure to give me any comments you have.
It has come to my attention that there was a second edition published since I got my copy. In that case, some of my criticisms of the book may no longer be relevant.
