Just started it in Dec. 2007 and it is still a work in progress. I originally opened a Photoreflect account but it was just too non user friendly to set up. I like the ease of Zenfolio in setting up the site. My only issue is the time it takes to upload full res images...so I down size them first and the time is much less.

To use your custom domain name, go to preferences in your control panel edit view. It tells you that you must create a cname with the company that you registered your domain with. It's been awhile so I can't recall the steps, I used godaddy myself to register my name.

I emailed zenfolio customer service and they replied with step by step instructions within an hour...hope this helps.

When you guys do these for prints how does that work out? Do you make a price for all the sizes and it stays that price for everything? When they buy a print, have you chosen which printing company you use? Do they take a % of your sales or no? Im just trying to figure out all about this im new and wanna open an acct somewhere. They would need to hook up with local print shops too, like Fuji or whatever here in Australia or NZ. I imagine postage from the US could make the whole thing prohibitive.

It would be great if they did, then customers could just do hassle free orders straight from the site.

I assume they have some agreement with printers so that jobs from them kick back a small % to zenfolio (or smugmug or whatever) to help run the site?

I don't have photomatix no. Could you specify which ones you're referring to as HDR as I have never actually done an HDR in the "normal" way. I'll let you know what I've done to make them look how they do.

I really like zenfolio (I still have a smugmug accnt too) but is anyone frustrated with the lack of ability to organize a gallery (except by dragging it photo by photo into position?) I just sent a request to them, asking for the option to organize by: caption, filename, date uploaded, date taken, date modified....smugmug offers those so I know it's possible...


edited...I see that they do offer that option...sigh...I've been frustrated for months over this and it's been available :lol:

OK, so... when you try and use your own domain, how long does it take for it to work? I just set up mine like 30 minutes ago (I believe I did it right) and when I type the addres i get the "explorer cannot display the website"... plus I dont know how to view my site from inside zenofolio... im annoyed!
