Had a very enjoyable day down at The Brean holiday park in Somerset for day 1 of the Brean Stages Rally. A few photos ...

Just for once can you put some really crap pics up cos i always seem to say "Cracking shots as usual Jay" :D Cracking shots as usual Jay  love #1,2 & 5. Are you going to the Wyedean? have you seen the entry list, as good an entry list i've seen for a while. Itching to give the MkIII an outing :)

hahaha .. thanks Darren.

I can take a crappy photo with the best of them ... Experiment 2 with the remote camera setup was another failure. I had it setup about 3 feet to the right of the 1st photo ... setup at ground level. Would have made for a brilliant photo ... if the car was fully in the frame and not out of focus :(

I'm not doing the Wydean as it's the same weekend as Sweden ... saying that I wouldnt be suprised if Sweden gets cancelled due to lack of snow. I agree about the entry list, it looks fantastic.

You're going to love the MKIII it's wonderful. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your photos.

First shot is a great moment.

Can I ask what shutter speed you guys shoot at? I notice no motion blur on the wheels or anything. Looking at all the rally shots on the forum that seems to be the norm. Is that the accepted way rally shots are taken? (I'm not coming from any angle here, I am genuinely interested)

You have to love the mighty Escort.

Thanks for the comments.

Not sure on the 'no motion blur on the wheel or anything' comment though ... I can see plenty of motion blur

As for shutter speeds, I generally shot between 1/60 and 1/320 depending on the situation. For some reason ... images 3&4 were shot a 1/400

Cheers mate. It was a cracking event

Cool, thanks for the info. As far as my comment goes, I was looking at the wheel rims themselves. I can see the tyre tread is blurred. I was not meaning to stir. I do like the shots.

Cracking shots. That 6R4 is about as sharp as they come.....Shame about the background, Clarkson would not approve :D

Went to this but found it was terrible for photos if you dont have a media pass obviously. But we managed to get get into the pit area but we didn't really know if we were allowed in there or not.

I think its a shame the viewing is so poor because it could be a good event to watch. :(

I totally agree with you. I felt sorry for the paying spectators when I saw where the organisers placed them. Thankfully I was one of the very few lucky ones who had a tabbard.

Thanks Darren. The facial expression certainly add a 'human element' to the photos.
