What do I need for cleaning?

Hiya

I'm new to DSLRs. I just purchased a 40D and a 17-55 IS lens and want to know how I should maintain it and clean it? Is there a link that lists the things I should do so it keeps in good condition? And what do I need to buy for cleaning? (Preferably things on B&H or Adorama as I buy it online).

Rocket blower to blow away dust/some dirt.
Micro fiber cloth to keep front element clean.
Eventually, sensor cleaning kit of some form.
Maybe a clear filter to protect your glass? Ive dropped my 1D w/24-70 mounted to it whilst running up a set of stairs. concrete stairs. filter shattered, the metal ring around it buckled. totally destroyed, but no damage to anything else, acted like a crumple zone, absorbing the energy from the fall. PLUS its easier to clean a filter than your front-element.

Man that reminds me... I need to figure out which sensor cleaner I want to get...
