Iam getting closer to purchasing my next lens and i am tossed up between the 28 300 L or the L 100 400 nature and fishing pictures. How about some feedback Thank You Tim

What lenses do you have at the moment.
If you already have the wide end covered then buy the 100-400L. It is longer and cheaper.

And with the money you save (the 28-300 is embarrassingly overpriced in my book) buy something to fill the gap you'll have under 100mm. Ultimately the 100-400 is the better of the two and it's cheaper. What could be better than that?
You'll probably never use the 75-300 again once you get either of the lenses you mention; the quality differential is signficant. Maybe you can sell it and use that money to combine with what you save and get another high quality lens like the 24-70L.
The sad truth is that once you start getting the pro quality optics, it's almost impossible to go back to inferior lenses. It shouldn't be, but it is.
