View Full Version : Two Canon Flashes, One PC Cable ?

I have managed to build a pc port for both my Canon 580ex which I run off-shoe via a DIY PC cable. I picked a 430ex and would now like to run both of the flashes together. Is it a case of just splicing the cable, or do I require further electronics to get both of them working off the same cable ?

Thanks
Paul

FIXED ! I spliced my cable at the pc sync end and both flashes are now working fine :-)

How far apart are the flashes? Why didn't you use the wireless feature? Are you using a lightmeter?

ja, i have the 580ex on a 5 meter cable and the 430ex on a 10 meter cable. i've metered with the single flash, but tonight i just eyeballed the shots. i didn't want to use the wireless feature for this application (studio type work), but i have used it in the past.

SOunds good! What if I use a PC cable to trigger my 580EXII above my shoulder. Will I be able to set my other 580 as a slave and have it triggered by the 580II? I'd like to use the other as a hair light or background light.

i tried to do something similar last weekend with the 430ex set up as a slave (wireless) it was was always out of synch but a fraction of a second :-( maybe some kind person out there knows the answer to that question.
