Are you sure it's Zoombrowser and not the USB camera interface that is giving you trouble?

When I first installed my G1 software, it not only failed to work, it broke my scanner's TWAIN interface.

The problem was fixed by a later version of the Canon USB driver. You might try upgrading that from http://www.powershot.com/.

Hi all,

I have been looking for an update of ZoomBrowser EX for a long time now. I currently have version 2.5 as supplied with my Canon IXUS. I have (as other forum members) seen many times on the internet that 2.6 is available. But when I go to the Canon internet site http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/lessons-e/zbex/v2.0-2.1/top.html they only talk about version 2.0 and 2.1.

So, (just as other members) my questions is: where can we get an update for ZoomBrower?

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Kind regards,

Gert-jan

I'm thinking at this point, since Canon hasn't even *replied* to my support messages regarding the software updates, it's time to take matters into our own hands. Is there anyone out there who has a version of Zoombrowser greater than 2.4 or 2.5? If so, would you be willing to post the install image somewhere?

If Canon's lawyers are as responsive as their support team, I woudn't imagine there being any problems posting the new version somewhere.

If someone's nervous about posting the image, we can certainly exchange email addresses and do it that way.

'tis a shame that a manufacturer of such great equipment can have such lacking product support.

Canon, if you're listening, it's time for you to truly enter the age of the web. You'll need a more thorough support knowlegebase and a much more thorough software update/download section. You'll also need a more responsive email-support team. And above all, repeat this mantra: "Even the finest hardware is only as good as its software"

BTW, my Zoombrowser database crashed *again* yesterday for no good reason.

Thanks in advance,
-Clint

Ok, my Zoombrowser 2.4 is broken. It somehow had a problem when I download some RAW images. Anyway, the error message reads:

A error has occured and the operation is cancelled. It is likely that the database has been corrupted. You can press the Restore button below to restore the database from a backup copy. You can also restore a database at any time by choosing the Restore Database menu command.

Error Code: 0x80040b7f

The application continues to crash no matter what I do. Can anyone help, or can someone direct me to an official Canon discussion thread?

Thanks

Ok....here's how you fix this. I played around and discovered the following.

Uninstall doesn't remove the database file nor the albums. Consequently, corrupted files will haunt you if you don't eliminate them.

1. Backup your Image Libraries.
2. Run Windows uninstall
3. Remove the remaining Zoombrowser EX folder
4. Reinstall Zoomy from the CD disk.
5. Import the images you backed up.

I'll follow directions this time and create official backups of the albums. :-)
