I have been offered a choice of 3 very old flashes but am struggling to find info on them.
The question isn't about what i want to do with the flash - but what is compatible with my camera.
Once i know that , then i will start to look at what i can and can't do with it.
The flashes:
Vivitar Auto Thyristor 2800-D
Hanimex TZ*2
Canon Speedlie 188A
Any advice welcome and appreciated

Using an old flash on your Drebel is not a good idea as some older flash units have a very high voltage potential across the hotshoe contacts that can fry the electronics in your camera without a Safe Sync Adapter (http://buyporters.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=13-0509&Category_Code=F3N).
Plus you would not have the ETTL feature.

In addition to the potential voltage problem, you will not be able to use ETTL . You will be limited to Manual flash or Auto thyristor if the flash has it.
