Thanks for the reminder Peter, i'll be there, if only to annoy Glenn as there's 3 Sunbeams entered, 1 of which is a Lotus :p

That is just not fair :( Mind you, on the bright side I am going to tarmac rally on Saturday where there's a Sunbeam Tiger running ... I LIKE Tigers :D ggrrrrrrr

It looks like I might actually make it along to this one, as my recovery from my knee operation is going very well. Just depends what the consultant says when I see him on Thursday.

Don't forget that this isn't a stage rally like the Jack Frost or Christmas Stages. The bits of the rally held at Croft will be driving tests, making it a little like an autotest in part.

Simon.

Thanks Geoff. So far so good since the op. I'm just about walking normally again, although I won't be running any marthons in the near future! More importantly, I don't have any pain or swelling in my knee - in fact I've had no pain and only a small amount of swelling since I had the surgery :D.

Hopefully see you sometime on Sunday.

Simon.

Glad to hear your knee is getting better

Do you or Ian have any more info on what the format will be and what part of the circuit they will be using?

Some more info:

The Croft Historic Rally is this coming Sunday, February 3rd. The event is run by Stockton & District Motor Club and is for cars produced before 1982.

Some very rare and unusual cars are amongst the entry, such as an Alfa Giulia GT & Volvo 131 alongside the “fan favourites” of the 1970’s and ‘80’s the Ford Escort RS2000, Sunbeam Lotus and Porsche 911 rally machinery. John and Lynn Haygarth lead the cars away in their Opel Kadett.

Spectators can view the cars on 9 special tests at Croft racing circuit between 10am and 3pm, admission is free but a small donation is requested for the circuits chosen charity, St Teresa’s hospice.

I think the easy answer is...all of it.

They used the main track, perimeter road and Rallycross circuit last year.

Oooooh, the rallycross circuit, that could be fun

I don't have any maps for the tests I'm afraid. I'm sure they will use all of the track, but each test will only use a small part of it. In fact, they'll probably have all of the tests (and I think there are around 10) set up at the start. The cars will then move from test around the circuit, interspersed with some regularity tests out on the public roads. I do know the tests are more about testing the drivers skill then his memory, so they maybe a bit more open and flowing than some autotests.

Cheers,

Simon.

Not sure if I'll be able to score a passport and make arrangements in time. So as of right now I'll have to say I can't make it.

I knew I should've taken the job in the UK... far more motorsports events through the winter than over here...

Believe me it's this country's only saving grace. You're better off where you are. :)

As for this sunday's event, i really hope it doesn't snow as i suspect it would ruin it or even force a cancellation.

As far as I've been told there isn't any snow at Croft, there was a bit of ice this morning but apart from that everything is OK and the route for the regularity is snow free also so it looks like everything should be OK for the morning.

As for the Sunbeams Ross Butterworth is the guy to watch out for, always an entertaining driver and knows the meaning of opposite lock:D

See some of you guys in the morning.

Cheers
Ian
