Question about food pictures.

I'm planning/shoooting some food pictures(menu) for a local Cafe, what do I need to be aware of?? Is there anything I need to pay more attention to?? Another thing is that I don't have any lighting (external flash or the stand light), should I to rent one?? or do I need it??

I asssume you have a digital camera? So experiment until you get results you like with natural light.
