Is anyone else of the idea that we need a Alternate Systems section on here that discusses competitor products (Such as Nikon, Pentax, Sony, etc). Let's face it, even though this site is dedicated to Canon cameras, we aren't shielded from the likes of our competitors. There is quite a bit of conversation that goes on about the latest Nikon, or Pentax, or Sony, or Leica or whatever camera/lense. The problem we have is that these discussions are spread out across many different forums.

When Nikon released news of the D300 and D3, I found postings in the DSLR forum, the General Chat forum, the Rumors forum, and the Marketplace forum. There must have been the same conversation about the D3 being discussed 5 times in each of the various forums. And because most people don't bother to search to see if a topic has been discussed before, they randomly spread the same topics around the board.

I realize that we want to keep site Canon centric and not turn this into the likes of DPReview. I am not disputing that. However, I just think in the current format, the individual Canon forums are being polluted with non Canon discussions. I think it would clean up the threads a bit (I learned the lesson on Nikon's release. I'm just trying to anticipate the wave of posts that will get released when Sony announces their next gen of camera's).

Anyone else thinks this way?

Another Good Idea for you to take care of Pekka. :)
Want me to put it on the list with the others?;)

I do believe you are free to discuss most anything on here as long as it relates to photography and follows the rules of discussion.

As far as wanting to add a thread such as alternate systems, I suggest you contact a moderator and state your case!
