Hello,

I've noticed a few members in the South Florida area. Anyone interested in a meetup?

Let me know,

Kind Regards,

Kevin A

I've always been up for a meetup. Infact we've talked about it a lot in the Florida members thread, but no one has ever come up with a concrete plan. And Jake, come on down (although i can't guarentee housing haha), and drag Snir down with you.

Let's wait until we spark more interest and then we'll set a day and place to meet.

Let me know what you think.

I can't guarantee housing either as my home isn't that big.

What do you all consider South Florida? I'd love to tag along despite the fact I may look so....scrawny and unprofessional with such a small array of camera gear?....lol.

My opinion of South Florida is Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Collier and Monroe and I would anticipate a meet up maybe in Broward, Dade or Palm Beach, however its going to depend where the majority is located.

We all share the same passion of photographing and despite the equipment we have I believe we can still have a good time.

If you do a shoot in Palm Beach I'd be interested. I live in Martin and we're photographing grasses and sedges in Martin and Palm Beach counties. Any trip into natural habitat is productive. I have plenty of room if anyone needs to stay overnight.

Thanks, Do you know of anyplaces in Palm Beach?

The places I propose are the following:

Miami Dade
Miami Metrozoo
Everglades
South Beach
Coral Castle
Vizcaya
Shark Valley

Broward
Butterfly World

Palm Beach
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

If anyone has more ideas on where to meet, let see them.

Let's find a place first and then set the time.

Most of the areas I go to are in the northern end of Palm Beach:
Hungryland Slough
Corbett Wildlife
Grassy Waters

I'm willing to travel south. I had forgotten to check this thread so if something gets decided and you don't hear from me please send a message.

I'm glad to see that something is forming down here. You can add one more to the expected list of attendees. I don't know if I'll be there right at 8am but I will definitely be there.

As far as the other suggested South Florida locations go I would almost certainly attend as well. I go to butterfly world every few weeks but have not had the time to visit the zoo's or other places since I got my 40D...I'd love to go.

I'd like to suggest Flamingo Gardens for the broward list of things to do along with the west palm zoo that I hear is smaller but very nice.

Anyone in the tri-county area that wants company on a weekend please let me know. I'm always interested in shooting but with no one that shares my interest and my hectic schedule it's rare I do anything.

Finally, as a last minute notice, I was planning to go to Butterfly World this Saturday (April 19) if anyone else wants to go.

Doesn't Kelby make his living teaching people how to manipulate images in Photoshop? It doesn't seem surprising to me that the Lauderdale winner would be something created in Photoshop. I was only surprised that Scott's overall winners didn't have that look.

Another new S FL member checking in. Name's Raymond, I live in north Dade County. Are there any regular meet-ups, or just a special occasion deal? I'd love to get together with some of you and learn whatever possible, just got my Rebel a month ago and still learning with it.

Hi Raymond,
We are having a meetup on Sunday 21st of Sept. Looking forward to meeting you there.

Talk to you soon,

Kevin

Wow, just found this thread while doing a search for places to catch sunset in south FL. So is there any place in the Palm Beach, Broward area. . .preferably beach for sunsets.

I've been to the Morikami; really great place, wouldn't mind going back. So if I don't have to go to school on the 21st, I'll join you guys.

Brian, I'm planning to get there at 8:30. You can find something for any of the lenses you have under your name. People, architecture, landscape, plants, fish, etc. Not sure what lenses Kevin is taking but he generally concentrates on people. I concentrate on plants and generally use a 50mm, 17-40, or 100mm macro. So the choice is yours. I've been there before but it's my first photography visit. You can PM me or Kevin if you need a contact cell No. Look forward to meeting you.

You're spot on with the names. Have a nice visit. Let's plan a walkaround for Nov 2 (Sunday). That will give people time to decide where they want to go. Ideally, the location would be mid-Palm Beach county which will help driving times.

We may have to delay the meetup. I talked to Kevin and he may be in Boston the first part of November. If so, we will move the meetup to later in the month. Still waiting for ideas about a location.

Thanks for postponing it as I want to make it. I'll probably be home by Nov 9th, but I don't think I'll be home any time before that.

I also would vote for the Palm Beach Zoo as it is an enjoyable place.

Do we setup a meetup for this day?

I just spoke with John and we kind of thought that Sunday 23rd is a good day to meet at the Palm Beach zoo.
