What is the benefit of having Picasa when I have PE-6?

From the writeup, Picasa seems to be aggressive. It wants to jump in ahead of other editing programs to organize things. Will this screw me up when, down the line, I want to work in Photoshop Elements 6, or are things seamless between the two programs?

Right now, I just want to download my shots to see how they come out before getting prints from COSTCO. Picasa might be okay for this.

I tried Picasa and didn't like it for the reason you mentioned and a couple others. It just always seemed to be doing "something" and chewing up memory. Ive only got a gig of memory on both my laptops so i gave it the boot. I have plenty of options between DPP, ZB and Gimp.
