Which one do you guys thinks looks better? Any other critiquing ot tips/hints are appreciated. Personally, I like the first one because you can see the colors of the crowd and you have more of a feel for the game.
thanks,
stephen

I agree with you the first shot is the better one, you can actually tell its a game rather than a practice or something.

Stephen,
With batter shots, rarely does the crowd, or even the catcher/umpire add to the peak action. After all, the crowd is always there, as are the catcher and the umpire. This is true unless something interesting is happening in the crowd (people jumping up when Bonds hits his 756th, etc), or with the guys behind the plate. Otherwise, the only person of interest is the batter and everyone else are spectators.
Shooting too wide and including too many people in an effort to give the shot context is a common mistake. People seeing your shot don't need to be reminded that the image taken during a game - besides, even if you are reminding of this, so what? What's special about this particular moment that makes this image worth looking at?
Also, it helps to get lower, like below:

dmwierz- thanks for the input, i want to get lower, but im shooting from the stands. the lowest i can get is 2nd row from the home dugout. My buddy has season tickets with those, and i buy the tickets from him at the games he doesnt go to. Thats an awesome pic, im a huge red sox fan. Do you live in Boston?

Would like both shots better if I could see more of the players face. No great interest in ether of the pictures.
From the seat you have enjoy the game.

Stephen, I won't even try to add to Dennis' c/c as I think he nailed it. I would asy that you might want to start keeping your exif info intact on your images since it will greatly help in getting contsructive comments when you post them.
