CF card Formatting

I got an error (Err02) on my Digital Rebel today and found that I had 3 options:
1. remove card and place back into camera
2. Reformat card on the camera
3. Service the camera

I tried the first two options, and found that with this particular error code, I could not do anything on the camera if the cf card was inside. I therefore reformatted the cf card on my PC and the problem still persists. What can I do to reformat the card in the correct format so that the camera can read it?

Do you have a friend with the same camera? Do you have another card? Or worse of all, have you bent one of the pins in the CF slot?

How does the card behave in the computer after you've reformatted it? Can you try it, as Anke suggested, in another camera? Can you try another card in your camera?
