I guess the primary objective here was to see if it was focusing accurately on the dog's nose. It's rather hard to tell with the perspective here, but it looks to me like the carpet is sharpest at least 1 or 2 cm in front of his nose.

What do you think?

hi robert , i was thinking that myself , but i did focus on the nose , does this mean something wrong with lens.

If there is anything on these forums that is everlasting it is the concern over focusing - regardless of the make or model of camera.

I have a pet theory about that. It is that perhaps it's us photographers that are at fault - not the cameras. I can truthfully say that I had trouble with each of my auto-focus cameras until I got used to them. However, I never had a problem with focusing my Canon AE-1 or any other of my SLR's prior to auto-focus.

It's just one of those things (auto-exposure included) that you have to pay attention to, because as advanced as they are, they are still as dumb as a rock.
