One of the Wolf Brothers from the Ecomuseum.
This shot is full frame, and absolutely tack-sharp at a 100% crop. I had such high hopes for framing this one.
Then I saw the weed partially covering the nose and jaw.
Believe me when I say that I was quite upset. I think that this shot is why I've been so bummed for the last couple days. I *so* wanted a large framed wolf image from this trip, and when I saw this one I just hated the rest. They've been put away for a while, so I can re-evaluate when I'm in a better mood. And then I'll see if I can resurrect this shot with a little Photoshop magic.
I'm kinda anal about that Photoshop stuff, so I have half a chance. But then again I hate doing such a major alteration on a wildlife shot.
All in all, this shot breaks my heart. Once again I tell myself that I won't screw up next time.

I think you're being much too hard on yourself. It's a great shot.

Thanks, Tom, but this was - by far - my most desired shot of the weekend, and I never saw the weed. Otherwise it's a very nice shot, and technically perfect enough to be blown up and retain a very high degree of quality. This should have been 20x30, framed, and placed in the most prominent wall in the house.
Except for the weed.
Too hard? No. I messed up my most important shot this year.

Good lord Scott I agree with Tom, you are way too hard on yourself. Yeah the weed is definitely unforetunate but it is still a hell of a image. The weed is just part of nature.

What dose the full photo uncroped look like? Maybe you can keep the weed in and it won't look as bad. Not that it is all that bad. You know, Wolves hang out in places that have alot of weeds. So natural surrondings
should be in a photo also, I think. Your photos are always excellent so like belmondo said, don't be so hard on yourself.

great shot Scottes.
Yea that weed is about the only distracting element in the pic, so it's hard to keep your eyes off of it. However, it's a beautiful pic.
I messed up my most important shot this year.
Scottes, keep your eye open and you trigger finger ready, because you never know when the GREAT shot pops up.
BTW, is it just me or the wolf has grown signifficantly since the last time you posted pictures of him and his brother?

Awesome capture Scottes...
I Think that when this shot is blown up it will be easier to recognize the weed and therefore it will be much less distracting...

Honestly : First looks count...
you wouldn't have talked about the weed, I wouldn't have seen it...
My eyes were drawn his eye... So the weed doesn't count...
Great pic...
 some people are never happy...
