I'm new here, but would like to ask a question about colour transparency 35mm film.

I'm hoping to find some type of film which I could simply scan using a flatbed scanner, this would be particularly good to save money on development. I think this type of film would work best. The scanner isn't made for film scanning, but from what I have read on this film it should work. Before I go out an buy some can you tell me if it will it work? I'm assuming a regular camera (35mm) will acept this type of film, and the scanner will be able to pick up the images since they are in full colour any way. All comments welcome and appreciated.

A quick answer is although it may work if your scanner has a film scanner adapter - but it will likely not work well and won't save you any money (cheaper in the long run just to buy a digital camera).

Colour transparency film, otherwise known as slide film is generally somewhat more expensive than negative film - often matching the price of negatives + prints.

A flatbed scanner does not have the required resolution to do a good job (some can do a half-assed job) and most add significant contrast to the scanned result. The scanner will required a film adapter for you to scan the slides (you can't just lie them on the glass of the scanner and expect it to work).

There is quite a bit of info on the web about this topic, particulary reviews of scanners which generally touch on how well they do at film scanning.
