There is no noticeable shutter delay when you use flash period, be it ETTL, Manual, etc. The delay will be the same as your camera without flash. I can say that without question for the G2, 10D and 1D Mark II.

The delay may not be perceptually noticeable, but there will be a delay imposed by the ETTL preflash. The question is, what is the delay? I've seen non-authoritative and inconclusive reports that it can range anywhere from a few tens of milliseconds up to a hundred milliseconds. The same reports also "claim" the the delay differs between cameras (e.g. longer on the G series, shorter on DSLRs).
I'm inclined to believe that the delay is probably not 100 ms. OTOH, I've lost track the number of times I've captured a particular person I know blinking when using my 550EX. Either that person is blinker or the delay from the preflash is long enough for the person to react by blinking.
