when shooting in jpg...
1. Discarding the embeded profile in photoshop does not give me the same image I would have if I had shot in RAW with my camera.
2. Saving a PS image in .raw format is simply saving it in a lossless format...nothing is discarded.

1. You should NOT discard the profile - you should either convert to your working profile, or use the embedded one. Discarding the profile is only used if the image has a profile embedded that is incorrect. If you use it in this case, the colours will be incorrect.
2. '.raw' format is not very useful - it may keep the original image data, but none of the other info is kept (EXIF, profile, ppi etc.). If you lose the profile information, you can never get it back. The last time I opened a '.raw' file I had to tell it what pixel size the image was when I opened the file! Why do you want to use '.raw'?

Thanks for clearing things up.
... was just wondering what was produced when saving in .raw, never use it.
