OK, I'm a sucker for foliage in New England. I spent the day trolling the backroads of Vermont looking for good colors and stuff to shoot. I saw LOTS of foliage but only a few things to shoot. A small mountain is quite beautiful when covered in the reds, greens, and golds of autumn, but it makes for a boring photo. Alas, my eye saw very few subjects worth shooting, and the resulting photos were far less pleasing than the original scene. For the most part they stunk. I did keep 2.
Birds are easy. Landscapes aren't so easy.
It was quite cold this morning and when the sun came up any body of water covered everything around it in fog. The rivers wind back and forth across the land, but man tends to build roads somewhat straight through everything, so the ride up was simply a matter of blasting the Crown Vic through a large number of fog banks. The rising sun cleared the mountain-tops slowly, leaving the small river valleys in fog. This was one such scene - the whole ride up was like this.

I came across this barn at one point. Some town somewhere in some part of Vermont. I wasn't lost, mind you, I just didn't know where I was.

Very nice!
I grew up in the moutains of New Hampshire and Maine. Kind of makes me homesick.
I love to take foliage pics too, but I've found that the great colors should be used as a background. The problem is finding something interesting to put in the foreground.

Yup, that was my problem, too. The foliage is beautiful but it doesn't stand on it's own in a photo.

Second shot is excellent! For me, I find that it's quite nice to have something in the foreground to give a frame of reference.

They are both great but that second one is way nice Scott.
How did your morning dew ones come out when we were out searching for the elusive deer. (For the record mine sucked)

#2 is very nice. That's quite a crop or is it a stitch?

Quite a crop, LOL! The sky was a wonderful, boring blue.
I may put some clouds in it one of these days...

Sorry, this was Vermont. Everyone knows that there aren't any Kangaroos in Vermont. They all packed up years ago and moved to Quebec.

Crackers. We don't get that kind of thing here in Central London.
But once I know what I'm doing I will definitely be off to Scotland so I can add shots like that to my Portfolio.
