Here's some of my favorite shots from the past week. All were taken with a 1DmkII. Swimming was 1/250th f/2.8 ISO 3200 and a 430ex off the ceiling (no flash for diving), hockey 1/500th f/2.8 ISO 1600, and basketball was 1/400th f/2.8 ISO 3200. Enjoy!

Great shots! Do you shoot for the paper? sell on website? just for fun?

All three actually :). I shoot for my high school's yearbook and student newspaper, my website (to sell prints to the parents), but mostly, just for fun. At the height of the sports seasons, I'm shooting close to 500+ keepers a week, so around 4k frames pre-edit.

Very cool! Nice website BTW. Do you sell enough to parents to make it worth keeping the site up to date? I've been toying with the idea of starting a website to sell sports pics to parents. Any advice would be appreciated! ;)

Very cool. I had the chance to get paid recently for a game for another school, but my photography teach said that if I get paid for the pictures it puts me out of all the scholarships available? I would love to make some cash out of shooting. Oh, Im a freshman.

ABSOLUTELY. While it is a little unusual, I have had about 200$ in orders in the past day and a half. Since I shoot for the newspaper and yearbook, I like having a place where people can see the other shots that weren't selected for the paper. In reality, it's all about word of mouth, and the more you get your name out there, the better. I put my name on everything, but most of my sales come from parents of kids who look at my site and ask for prints.
Build a site that is simple, straightforward, and easy for even the most novice computer user to navigate. I've learned the most about web design by just looking over the shoulder of someone browsing my site. My approach has always been focused on the images themselves, which is why all the interface colors are subdued and the images sit inside a "mat" of sorts. Make your site look less like a store and more like an art gallery. (with an Add to Cart button of course)

I haven't heard anything to this effect, at least from my photo teacher. I don't see how it could be a problem. I mean, you've got to have a way to pay for your gear somehow...
