Microsoft has a patch for this new threat at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-028.mspx

This virus imbedded in JPEGs creates a back door and can run virtually any program on your computer.

I download a lot of images from the internet, (as I expect most of you reading this post also do)

If you use XP, or Internet Explorer, your computer is at risk.

Moderator, you may want to post this on all forums.

Fairly old news, but nothing wrong with bringing light to the situation again ;-)

Only one of the many reasons I'm glad I switched to Opera a long time ago :D

Thanks for the heads up though, I have clients who can surely benefit from this information.

I guess I'm only 3 weeks behind the curve.

Tapeman, I installed the fix but it messed my laptop big time!!!

So guys don't rush to install the fix, unless you are an IT guy and know what you are doing.

Does Service pack2 have to be installed before you can install this update? There's no way in hell I'm installing SP2 on my pc. It messed up my notebook when it was just 2 days old.

There are two versions, SP1 and SP2. I used SP1.
