Excellent. I just picked up the Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX and I am looking forward to some shooting this weekend with it. Hope it is nearly as good as your Canon.

great shot, no real comments to make, you really couldn't get any more from that shot

Hi tpinchback,

Very nice shot.

What type of lights did the Natatorium have. Tungsten?

How did you set your white balance? Did you do a custom WB?
What type of post processing did you use?

I have to shoot my son's swim meet in a few weeks. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

Good swimmer shot.

I'm surprised that you were able to shoot at f2.8 at 1/250 and still have enough light. Did you do any photo editing to brighten the image?

Sailor Don, iso 1600 did the trick (I think).

Hi, thanks for all the great comments!

This was shot at The University of Houston Natatorium, with the regular tungsten lighting. The natatorum does have some skylights, but since it was overcast outside the light did not help.

I shot in full manual at f2.8 and 1/250 with auto white balance. JPG, Medium. I forgot my other cards so I had to lower the resolution, to be able to cover the entire meet, including diving.

1/250, iso1600, was still not enough light to get a correct exposure so the histogram was bunched to the left. Did the usual levels to correct the underexposed photo, unsharpmask, boosted the contrast, saved as tiff, and did a pass with my noise reduction software.

I am away from my home computer but I will post the orig. picture later.

thanks for looking
