I need help.
I am going to be shooting some food product and the images will be used on their packaging. The product is a nationally (maybe international) distributed item and I am trying to figure out what the usage fees may be.
I have been shooting automotive commercially for nine years as a senior staff photographer so I am not that familiar with usage fees on a freelance basis.
I have heard conflicting things. My photog friends say that i should charge a usage fee and others (exec types) say that the client owns the images since they are paying me and I cant charge a usage fee.
Which is it. There is a big difference in money so I want to make sure that I price it right.
