Hey POTN,

I had a question for you sports shooters who sell photos at sporting events such as tournaments etc.

I was thinking of getting a portable printer to sell prints instantly at events. These printers are quite small and you dont need a computer to run them which is cool. Basically snap the pics, insert the media card, and print. (obviously hoping that the composition and framing is good enough to print it)

Any thoughts, opinions on these or this idea would be appreciated.

Thank you!:)

Well, at the end of a game, folks clear the stands and head home. Players head for the locker room. I'm not sure who'd stay around to buy pics. Also, I post process everything I shoot (at least to some extent) and wouldn't be able to do that on the spot unless I had a laptop.

So, I don't think I'd be interested in trying it.

I wouldn't want to do it because any photos I sell I want to be of the highest quality. Therefore, I want to make sure I've had a chance to look at each thoroughly and PP what is needed. Then I can sell them at the next game.

Besides, pretty much anyone who is at one game is going to be at the next, or at least another in the near future. You can also hand them your business card and tell them they'll be available shortly if they'd like to purchase any.

I agree with Jim. It's important that you hand out business cards and have your web site on it. It will also help if you can have the school tell people about your web site and maybe have a link to it from their site.
Another problem with printing on site is that you need an assistant so you can keep shooting.
