What is the difference between EOS, SLR and DSLR?

I've been reading some of the archives and I see these three terms used almost interchangeably. Do they mean the same thing.

Thanks for you help.

Hi! :)

EOS is a line of cameras from Canon.

SLR means Single Lens Reflex, i.e. a camera where you look through the lens when when you peek in the view finder.

DSLR means Digital SLR.

EOS cameras are SLR cameras, digital or not.

EOS: Electro Optical System

Or in other words EOS = The Only Camera That Counts

And for the record it's offically pronounced e-oss, not E-O-S. In Greek mythology Eos is the goddess of the dawn. Well, good photographers get up early to get the best light...

Why am I typing this....

You have been sucked in to the charm of these forums...where you meet interesting, yet geeky, losers such as yourself (and me), who have nothing better to do than sit around discussing photography and not making photography. Right Sam! :P:P:P
