I should take the time to write more, but I figure that all you want are the photos <grin>. In short nice group of Gents from the US and Canada joined in with around 400 like minded people mainly from NZ to celebrate all that is owning and racing classic cars.

The collection below are all Can Am cars mainly McLaren M6B & E although No75 is a Lola T163. The full set is on the web site.

Yes because blue skies, trees and mountains aren't good backgrounds (!) ;)

As for the shooting locations weren't you ON the infield?

6. These are F11 1/50sec ISO 50 at 420mm

I may have seen you shooting. 2x TC and a 70-210 was it? I'd assumed you were using a 300 2.8 and the zoom on the 2nd body - or was that another guy?

I do like the first shot, the others are a little standard fare. Nice blur on the rims though.

Cheers, Shane.

I tried from all over the place but always seemed to have a blue barrel bin, a pylon, wires, fences or pot-a-potties in the shots. I could find a gap but the timing was very tight. It gets more and more difficult as they reduce the number of places they will let us stand. Give it a year and we'll need 600mm everywhere

I tend to use a 300 prime with a 1.4 on one body; a 24-105 on the other and a bright orange T shirt on me.

I thought standard was a straight and level 3/4 shot withthe lense wide open at 1/1000;)

Yep it's a bit like that isn't it, I had to time my shots *very* carefully on raceday 1 ... panning across the fence and firing in the gap.

Day 2 wasn't so bad as I was shooting over top of the fence but being perched on a slow corner meant no cool fast pans like I nabbed on day o (practice) ... should have moved. Never mind there'll be other meets.

Heheh, yeah they are I meant samey rather than standard. A lot of mine are shot in exactly the same spot just the car has changed.

Cheers.

Looking at your first shot the owners name is Ozzie Olson, do any of you know how he made his fortune?
Nice shots.

No idea. I seem to remember that he was Dan Gurney's main sponsor. Don't Olsonite make toilet seats?

Yes, he manufactured them. I met the man at a race in Trenton,New Jersey USA back in the 70s when gurney was fielding Indy cars for Bobby Unser.
