I love shots of guitars just hanging out backstage (or in my case on stage to the side). I worked for Beatlemania once as a sound tech and helped unload all of thier gear (22 vintage guitars). It was insane. They take a guitar out of a case and say "1963 rickenbacker 12 string" and you take it and hold on to it for all your life.
This shot would have been more impressive if all of the guitars were in it. Then at least all 5 slots would have been filled instead of two. Oh well. Not much you can do. I still love it. Thanks for the comment. I saw the REO shots. Very nice. I wish I had a gig like that. Someday.....

I'll make more of an effort to get the guitar pictures from now on ... I'm not a musician so it never occurred to me that a lot of the instruments I see are valuable in so many ways.

Great pics.
I never played at Bill's Bar (21+), but I have played at the Axis right down the street. It's a shame the Axis and Avalon are being torn down (I believe).

Bill's is awesome. They are actually 18+ most nights. They apply for the age reduction from the city for most shows a few weeks in advance.
Axis and Avalon are being torn down, but to make way for the new and awesome HOUSE OF BLUES. which is finally returning to it's home city after some many years away.

I'm kind of a musician, I can play a bit here or there on most instruments, usually just enough to sound check them if need be, but really I'm just a fan of going for that "still life" shot of the stage before a show or the instruments or whatever. It usually makes the artists I shoot for happy because someone cares about their gear... I shot a few weeks ago a band's upright bass laying on its side with a green hollow body epiphone guitar and gold gretsch drums behind it. The lighting was red and amber and had a great sheen over the setup. The drums shimmered and the bass glowed. It was great. The band loved it and posted it online with all of the performance pictures.

It would be awesome if people shot the gear before we went on at the shows I play/artistic shots at all... but alas they're not actual photogs and just random chicks with P&S's or some people with a Rebel using kit-lens + built in flash taking snapshots :(

I do get some shots in before a show... but usually with clubs, the gear doesn't sit on stage without moving long enough and with enough light for me to get the shot. Somethimes though... I get a good shot....
