Hotshoe cord extension length?

Okay, I've made one of the extensions for my hot shoe cord 2. Question is, what is the longest I can make it? Any electronics people out there to help me out?

I've made off shoe cord extensions out of good quality shielded cable that were 50 feet long and it worked flawlessly. The cable is used for bidirectional communication of data so at some point there will be data loss but I don't know at what point that will occur.

thanks Robert. I think 50 feet might be the maximum I would use. I'm sure this has been discussed in the past, but I also wonder if I can fire my 420ex via hot shoe adapter and pc cord. Since it's not manual, it wouldn't matter to me if I can use ettl or not. I can just diffuse it for lighting backdrops, etc.

I have three 10' extensions and a 6' extension for a total of 36'. (plus the original 3')

Now why don't CANON & etc think of this???? Very professional job, mind telling me the specs of the jacks and wires for a lay person. I can then just tell the electronic store guy to
sort it out for me.;) Thanks.
