Ok not the hottest of topics but I had the 28-105 II Metal mount USM lens and got rid of it for the 28-135 IS. For me the 28-105 USM lens was smaller and more compact and a bit sharper. I really don’t need the IS function any more as I can change ISO setting on the digital cameras and keep shooting at 1/60 of a sec so there is not need if you just stay still. “IS” is only good to 1/30 of a sec and not really effective at 1/15 of a sec. In this case I just use a 2.8 lens or a 1.8 lens. This lens is all to often over looked by many and it is a good compact little lens. Mind you I am not taking about the new 28-105 lenses which is crap over the older model. Any one have some thoughts on this?

I don't have any experience with either of these two lenses, but according to Photodo.com, the 28-135 is just slightly better than the 28-105 (3.5 points vs. 3.3). I guess that in real life you'll have very hard time finding any significant differences ...
